Abstract

Gastritis or ulcer is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa which has an impact on the quality of life of adolescents. Decreased productivity of adolescents, unable to participate in learning activities because of pain in the pit of the stomach or feeling nauseous thereby reducing the quality of adolescent learning. The purpose of this study was to find out and prove the relationship between knowledge, diet, stress, and coffee consumption with the incidence of gastritis in adolescents at MAN 14 B East Jakarta in 2023. A sample of 74 respondents used the proportionate stratified random sampling technique This research is quantitative with cross sectional design and statistical test using Chi-Square, to be able to get OR and CI values in tables of more than 2x2 with simple logistic regression analysis. The results showed that there were 42 students with gastritis (56.8%) and there was a relationship between knowledge (p=0.004), diet (p=0.008), stress (p=0.007), and coffee consumption (p=0.005). It is hoped that the school can increase information in the form of counseling about gastritis by using various counseling media that can be received by students. In addition, it is expected that teachers can play an active role in conveying health information, especially regarding gastritis in terms of maintaining diet, stress management, and coffee consumption.
